 Sarah Macmillan

I am a young individual film-maker and photographer who specialises in Documentaries, Short Films and Events in North Yorkshire.
Working alone I research, photograph, film, direct and produce my own original, unique style of Heritage Films under the title
‘Northern Landscapes’
.

I became interested in working in film in 2004 when I attended a screening of ‘The Banks Of  The Tees’, a local Industrial Heritage Documentary filmed in the late 1960’s focusing on the difficult social and working conditions of life in the Cleveland area, which was filmed and produced by my good friends Graeme Miles and Robin Dale.

‘The Banks Of The Tees’, became my great inspiration and showed me the vital importance of recording Heritage, Tradition and daily life in our rapidly changing world.

It also gave me the energy, ambition and desire to create ‘Northern Landscapes’  an archive of modern day life, incorporating changes in rural, industrial, coastal and urban landscapes, which I record on film to be viewed by many generations of people now and in the future.

Through the media of film I am able to reach many varied audiences, my short-films and documentaries are intended to raise awareness of the vital need to preserve our rich Tradition and Heritage.

As a photographer and film-maker I feel very lucky to live in such an exciting and unique region.
I am dedicated to continue to photograph, film and record my view of the wonderful NORTHERN LANDSCAPES.
